The tongue is made of vegetable tanned leather about 1.5 mm thick. It is cut from bull-leather in the press, and then cut down by thickness to form a smooth backside. It bears a stamp of the manufacturer from the city of Ludenscheid (Germany) and the year 1939. Some bear the stamp of L.B.A. (Luftwaffe BekleidungsAmt - Air Force Uniform Service). Write in the comments if you definetely need the L.B.A. stamp.
The color, thickness of the leather and threads may vary from batch to batch, but generally consistent with the image. We have lighter and darker tabs, slightly thicker and slightly thinner (parts of a millimeter). You can always get a photo of exactly your product before ordering by contacting us.
Price for 1 tab (for 1 buckle).
How to sew the tab?
The tab should be wet before installation! If you bend it when dry, it will likely crack. This is a feature of the leather, it is soft when wet, and remembers the shape when gets dry. The tab is set so that if you look at the front side of the buckle, you can see the stamp on the strap (on its short end). Accordingly, the long end is on the back side of the buckle.
