Cockade embroided with silver metallic bullion on dark green cloth for Heer officer peaked caps. Size 5x7 cm. It is attached to the cap usually with a thread by the edge.
Usually embroidered wreaths goes with the same eagle insignia, together they made up the set of insignias for the peaked-cap of the Heer. There were also metal signs during WW2. Both metal and embroidered signs for officers' peaked-caps were equally common in the Heer.
How to sew the patch? Attach the patch to the uniform so that it sits well. Glue the patch or fasten it in another way (for example, stitch it with a thread of noticeable color). Sew the patch by perimeter with small stitches over the edge, use a thread in the color of the backing. Set the needle 2-3 mm from the edge, otherwise the underlay will tear (shag), and the patch will fall off.
